Leoleolé by Leonor Leal Flamenco Dance Company |
|
| Description | Leonor Leal Flamenco Dance Company UK premier: ¡Leoleolé! Following their success in the Jerez Flamenco Festival, The Hispanic Festival hosts UK premier ¡Leoleolé! by Leonor Leal and Antonio Molina “El Choro” Recognised to be at the top of her league in her native Spain, Leonor Leal and her company make a daring attempt to showcase their avant-garde flamenco dance outside traditional settings to debut here in Scotland . The “feminine, coquettish and technically perfect” Leonor Leal has worked with The Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia, Antonio el Pipa, Andrés Marín and Javier Barón. Leonor’s contemporary dance style reflects the influence of her ballet training contrasted against her flamenco roots and education. ¡Leoleolé! Introduces traditional flamenco dances such as soleás por bulerías, farrucas, tarantas, abandolaos, seguiriyas and cañas. She dances farruca and alegrías as a soloist, and with Antonio Molina “El Choro”, she dances bulería por soleá. Leonor dares to dance with extremely short hair, a very refreshing look in the world of Flamenco traditions. Her look matches perfectly well with the purity of her dance style and her beautiful simplicity. “¡Leoleolé! was very well received by the Spanish press during the Spanish premier in the Jerez Flamenco Festival. Leoleolé, is a constructed word; Leo, from my name; Le of Leal (my surname) and olé from the flamenco expression. I did not want to develop a theatrical narrative for this show, but decided to use as inspiration my dance background: ballet (the solid foundation that my body still remembers) and flamenco that is the intrinsic part of my culture and education” Leonor Leal. Company Members: Dancers: Leonor Leal and Antonio Molina “El Choro”. Vocals: Mercedes Jimenez and Jesus Corbacho. Guitar: Tino van de Sman. . |
